Motorcycle Group Collects and Donates Coats

The Rugged Cross Riders of Rock Hill, SC, collected and donated almost 300 coats to Petersburg Primary School. Riders came to the school Saturday, Nov. 4 to make the donation. Petersburg faculty and staff greatly appreciates such kindness and generosity toward our students.

March of Dimes Celebration

Petersburg Primary concluded the March of Dimes spirit week with a parade and balloon release Friday, Nov. 3. The school raised $2605.00 and was named the first place school in Chesterfield County School District for the highest total.

4K Students and Parents Take Advantage of Waterford UPSTART Program

Through a grant offered to schools in SC, our 4K parents were afforded the opportunity to have a laptop computer and Internet access (if needed) provided for them so that their children can benefit from home usage of the Waterford Early Learning online preschool reading curriculum. The students who are currently participating took a pre-assessment Oct. 28 while their parents were trained in the requirements of the program. We are looking forward to great gains in these students' preschool reading skills!

High Point Fire Department Wows Students Again

The High Point Fire Department, with assistance from the Pageland Fire Department, returned this year to Petersburg Primary for Fire Prevention Day, Oct. 11. Chief Wendell Johnson and many volunteers taught the children about fire prevention and safety through an interactive presentation, as well as stations where they could practice the Stop, Drop and Roll technique, escape from a "smokehouse," rehearse dialing 911 and speaking to an operator, and (everyone's favorite) see and learn about real fire trucks!

Petersburg Primary held a Super Heroes Day Wednesday, September 13 to kick-off the Olweus Bullying Prevention (OBPP) and Positive Behavior (PBIS) programs. The day included a school-wide assembly followed by a surprise visit from Spiderman and Wonder Woman!

Spaces are Still Available in 4K

There are several spaces available in our 4K classes for this fall. Children must be 4 on or before September 1, 2017. We offer a full-day program taught by licensed, highly qualified, and experienced staff. School bus transportation and free breakfast and lunch are provided. In addition, each child will receive a minimum of 20 new free books to have as their own.
