By now everyone should have a chromebook for their child with a charger and log-in information. Please spend this weekend getting used to the chrome book and practice logging in.
We are starting our virtual school next week on Tuesday. Next week will not focus on lessons but just getting used to being online and getting to know each other virtually.
At some point, we will also start to use Imagine Learning and Math; both are great virtual tools for learning.
If you’ve read the Virtual CCS Handbook (https://www.chesterfieldschools.org/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=271353&type=d&pREC_ID=2054667), you would have seen the program expectations for the students, parents, and teachers. To summarize, students and parents need to work virtually 3 hours a day, 15 hours a week.
Parents, we have to keep in contact 3 times a week; this can be done through Class Dojo, email, or a phone call. When I send you a message, I will need a response back to prove that you have received the message. You can just say “Got it” so I know it went through.
We are also required to have a virtual meeting two times a week. I will be using these virtual meetings to do small group work and/or teach a short lesson. One for literacy and one for math.
Since this is a bit of a challenge for some parents/guardians, I am going to create a schedule based on when you are available.
So that is 5 times a week we are in contact with each other. I will be documenting these contacts.
Please send me a message, whether through email, text message, or Class Dojo on whether you prefer a morning or afternoon virtual meeting.
If you have not joined us on ClassDojo yet, please do so. It is a great app to have; it’s free and a great messaging system. I also use it to share important information and events that are coming up. If you need another invite, please let me know.
You can also keep up with what’s going on through the weekly newsletter on this webpage.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions or concerns.
I hope everyone has a great 3-day weekend!
See you all next week!
Ms. Amy Yang
